Hair may be damaged by heat styling, straightening or blow drying. It can also dry out and break off after excessive use of styling products such as hairspray and mousse, or from coloring, straightening or perming too frequently. To stop your hair from breaking, treat it gently and carefully while brushing or styling.
Shampoo your hair every few days rather than every day. Shampooing every day will dry your hair and strip out the natural oils, causing further breakage. You can effectively accomplish this by using a hot oil treatment by heating up some olive oil, massaging it thoroughly into the scalp, all the way to the tips of your hair. Then wrapping a hot towel around the hair for about an hour.

*If you face excessive hair fall, you can add a part of the root of a banyan tree to some lemon juice and use the solution daily to wash your hair.
Protect your hair from wind, sun and chlorine. Wear a hat on windy or sunny days to protect it from whipping around and absorbing harmful UV rays. Wear a bathing cap when swimming to keep your hair from drying out by chlorine or salty water.
*Infuse your hair with moisture by coating it with mayonnaise. Apply the mayo to your hair liberally, then leave it in your hair for up to an hour. Then wash it gently, using only the tips of your fingers, don't use your nails to scrub.
Brush your hair sparingly and only when it is dry. Brushing hair too often--or when it is wet--can cause excess breakage. Run the brush along completely dry hair only once or twice, then leave it alone. Use a natural bristled hairbrush, like board bristled or wooden brush instead of plastic brush.
Color your hair as infrequently as possible with a product that does not contain peroxide. Peroxide, or bleach, damages your hair and can cause breakage. If possible, use a semi-permanent dye that coats the hair without creating additional breakage.
